History
In 2001, a second NASCAR Cup Series race was awarded to Kansas Speedway, to be held in the fall. This created two 500-mile (800 km) races at the speedway, becoming the first track since 1991’s Charlotte Motor Speedway to do so. The inaugural Busch 400 was held on September 30, 2001 and won by Kevin Harvick. The following day, the Winston 500 (later evolved into the Hollywood Casino 400) was held and won by Jeff Gordon.
