Chiefs’ first Super Bowl victory
In 1970, the Chiefs made their first Super Bowl appearance, defeating the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 in Super Bowl IV. This victory resulted in Len Dawson being named the game’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), making him the first Chiefs player to receive that honor.
Chiefs’ second Super Bowl victory
The Chiefs’ second Super Bowl victory came in 1970, when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. This was the first Super Bowl to be played on artificial turf, as the game was held at the newly built Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. Chiefs linebacker Willie Lanier was named the game’s MVP, after he intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
Chiefs’ third Super Bowl victory
The Kansas City Chiefs have won three Super Bowls, the most recent being Super Bowl LIV in 2020. The other two Super Bowl wins came in 1970 and 2019.

The Chiefs’ first Super Bowl win came in 1970, when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 in Super Bowl IV. Their second came in 1997, when they defeated the Green Bay Packers 35-15 in Super Bowl XXXI. Their third came in 2019, when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 54-51 in Super Bowl LIV.
Chiefs’ fifth Super Bowl victory
The Kansas City Chiefs have won five Super Bowls in their history. Their most recent came in 2020, when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV. The Chiefs also won Super Bowls IV, L, and XLIX.
