The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched the AFC West title and are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. But if they win their final game of the regular season, who will they play?
The answer depends on whether the Chiefs finish as the No. 1 seed in the AFC or the No. 2 seed.
If the Chiefs are the No. 1 seed, they will host a playoff game on either Saturday, January 12 or Sunday, January 13. Their opponent will be either the lowest-seeded team in the AFC (currently the Indianapolis Colts) or a wild card team (currently either the Pittsburgh Steelers or Baltimore Ravens).
If the Chiefs are the No. 2 seed, they will travel to face either the No. 3 seed (currently either the New England Patriots or Buffalo Bills) or a wild card team (currently either the Houston Texans or Tennessee Titans) on either Saturday, January 12 or Sunday, January 13.
They will play the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.
The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched the AFC West division title and a spot in the NFL playoffs. They will play the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. The game will be played on Saturday, January 9 at 3:35 pm CT.
The Chiefs could potentially play the New England Patriots in the Divisional round.
The Chiefs would advance to the divisional round to play the Patriots if the Steelers lose to the Dolphins and the Titans lose to the Ravens.
If they win the Divisional round, they would play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship game.
The NFL Divisional playoffs are set, and if the Kansas City Chiefs win on Sunday they will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Miami Dolphins on Sunday to earn the AFC’s top seed and a first-round bye. The Kansas City Chiefs, who are seeded fourth in the AFC, will host the Houston Texans at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday.
If the Chiefs win, they will travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers in the AFC Championship game next weekend. The winner of that game will advance to Super Bowl LIV in Miami.
