The Chiefs’ First Super Bowl Win
The Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in 1970, defeating the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. It was a historic victory for the franchise, and for the city of Kansas City.
Chiefs’ quarterback Len Dawson was named the game’s MVP, after completing 12 of 17 passes for 142 yards and one touchdown. Dawson’s touchdown pass went to All-Pro wide receiver Otis Taylor, who caught four passes for 81 yards in the game.
The Chiefs’ defense was dominant, allowing just seven points and forcing four turnovers. defensive end Mike Bell sacked Vikings’ quarterback Joe Kapp three times, and defensive tackle Buck Buchanan had two sacks.

In 1970, the Chiefs came back from a losing season in 1969 to win the AFC West with an 11-3 record. They then went on to defeat the Oakland Raiders in the AFC Championship game. In Super Bowl IV, they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 23-7, becoming World Champions for the second time. Len Dawson was named Super Bowl MVP after completing 12 of 17 passes for 140 yards and one touchdown.
The Chiefs’ Third Super Bowl Win
The Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in 2020, with a resounding victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs had previously won Super Bowls IV and LIII.
The Chiefs’ Fourth Super Bowl Win
The Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history with a resounding 38-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night. It was a dominant performance from start to finish for the Chiefs, who jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the first half and never looked back.
It is the first time that the Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls, and they become just the second team in NFL history to win four Super Bowls (joining the New England Patriots).
The game was a rematch of sorts from last year’s Super Bowl, which saw the Chiefs come back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 31-20. This time, there was no need for a comeback, as the Chiefs built an insurmountable lead early on.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was once again stellar, throwing for two touchdowns and running for another. He was named Super Bowl MVP for the second consecutive year, becoming just the third player in NFL history to do so (joining Bart Starr and Tom Brady).
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire also had a big game, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown. It was an impressive performance from start to finish for the Chiefs, who cemented their place as one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history.
