They became the second AFL team (after the New York Jets) to defeat an NFL team in an AFL–NFL World Championship Game when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV; this was also their first Super Bowl appearance overall. The team’s victory on January 11, 1970 remains the club’s last championship game victory and appearance to date. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The team plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium and is headquartered in Owings Mills.

The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced his intention to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. As part of a settlement between Modell and the city of Cleveland, the Browns’ intellectual property, including team name, logos, training facility, and history, would remain in Cleveland with the Browns franchise. The franchise began play in 1996 under new owner Peter Angelos as one of five expansion teams – Along with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans joining since 1995–that increased the league’s size to 30 teams; these five teams became known as “The Fab Five”. The Ravens have qualified for the NFL playoffs ten times since 2000 Baltimore-based Rosenbloom had died in 1979; upon acquiring majority ownership over Memorial Stadium from Rosenbloom’s estate following litigation (mdl 82–6488), Carroll Rosenbloom’s second wife Anita renamed it for herself and son Steve. At first she proposed that an entirely new stadium be built next to Memorial Stadium; after being rebuffed by city officials who preferred that any new stadium be built downtown near Camden Yards instead per her late husband’s wishes calling Memorial Stadium a “dump”, she then considered either refurbishing or reconstructing Memorial Stadium itself into a modern venue. To add urgency to Anita’s efforts to build a new stadium at or near Memorial Stadium, increases were approved for police protection costs at $1 million annually while repairs on an aging Memorial Stadium continued to increase causing annual operating costs up to $3 million by 1985 not including costly capital improvements needed just so basic health and safety standards could be met such as replacing rotting wooden seats which were held together with chicken wire on some sections of upper levels as well as making structural repairs just so that upper deck seating areas could support more than 20 patrons safely per state fire code not originally intended for stadiums when it was written nor updated for decades since mostly due to lack of need.. In light of these developments – along with increased agitation from area residents who didn’t want another public tax dollars used on a new stadium when existing ones needed major renovations – state officials representing Baltimore City and County unwilling to continue pouring money into Memorial Stadium feeling burned from previous white elephants decided that any new stadium should only be privately financed putting heavier pressure on Ansit Goldsteinberg-Rosenbleum Maximus Blauserbaum for immediate results which also coincided with desire by National Football League Commissioner Pete Rozelle seeking 2 additional expansion franchises bringing number of teams up to 30 by early 1990s.
