The Kansas State Capitol
The Kansas State Capitol is the capitol building of the U.S. state of Kansas. It is located in downtown Topeka, the state’s capital city. The building houses the office of the Governor of Kansas, as well as the chambers of the Kansas Legislature and the offices of both the Attorney General and the Secretary of State of Kansas. The 290-foot (88 m) high building is open to visitors for tours Monday through Saturday, except on state holidays.
The Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site
Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974, the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site commemorates the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down “separate but equal” education in America. The site includes the former Monroe Elementary School, which served as one of the four African-American elementary schools in Topeka prior to integration; a Visitors Center with films and interactive exhibits; and a restored one-room schoolhouse.
