On July 8th, 2018, the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Kansas City Royals 2-1. Starting pitcher Trevor Williams got the win, while Brad Keller took the loss. The Royals’ only run came on a solo home run by Hunter Dozier.

Kansas City’s only run came in the bottom of the 9th inning, when Salvador Perez hit a solo home run off of Pittsburgh closer Mark Melancon. The home run was the only blemish on an otherwise stellar outing for Melancon, who struck out four batters in two innings of work. Pittsburgh won the game by a final score of 2-1.
