The application process for these tags is very competitive, and the chances of being drawn are very low. However, there are a few things that you can do to improve your chances.

How to Apply

It’s simple and easy to apply online for your Kansas deer hunting permit. Just go to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism website and follow the instructions. The deadlines for applying are as follows:
-May 15 for the early season
-July 15 for the regular season
-September 1 for the late season

7. Choose how many preference points you would like to use for this application. Each preference point increases your chances of being drawn for a tag, but you are not required to use any preference points if you do not wish to do so.
8 . Enter the number of people who will be applying with you in the group size box . The maximum group size is four people total .
9 . Read and agree to the terms and conditions on the next page , then click “Submit Application .”
10 . You will be taken to a confirmation page where you can review your application before it is submitted . Once you are sure that everything is correct , click “Submit Application” again .

By Mail

If you are a Kansas resident, you may apply for deer tags by mail. The application period for deer tags is from May 1st through June 30th. You must submit your application and payment before June 30th to be entered into the drawing.

If you are not a Kansas resident, you may still apply for deer tags. The application period for nonresidents is from May 1st through July 31st. You must submit your application and payment before July 31st to be entered into the drawing.

There are two ways to apply for deer tags: online or by mail. If you applying online, you will need a credit card to pay the application fee. If you are applying by mail, you will need to include a check or money order made out to “Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism” with your application.
