Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO.
The Chiefs have won three AFL championships, in 1962, 1966, and 1969. They became the second AFL team (after the New York Jets) to defeat an NFL team in an AFL–NFL World Championship Game when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV. The team’s victory on January 11, 1970 remains the club’s last championship game victory and appearance to date, and occurred four years prior to the merge between the AFL and NFL. Between 1970 and the 2019 season (including playoffs), the franchise has recorded 12+ wins eight times, 10+ wins 23 times, nine or fewer wins 18 times, 8 or fewer wins 10 times (not counting strike-shortened 1982), 7 or fewer wins five times (not counting strike-shortened 1987), 6 or fewer wins four times (not counting strike-shortened 1987 & 1982), 5 or fewer wins twice (not counting strike-shortened 1987 & 1982), 4 or fewer wins twice (not counting strike-shortened 1987 & 1982), 3 or fewer wins once (not counting strike-shortened 1987 & 1982), 2 or fewer wins three times (not counting strike-shortened 1982), 1 win once (not counting strike-shortened 1987 & 1982) 0 win once (not counting strike-shortened 1987 & 1982).
Playoffs
The NFL playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. Six teams from each of the league’s two conferences qualify for the playoffs based on regular-season records. The four division winners occupy the first four of the six playoff spots in each conference, with the two remaining spots filled by the two wild-card teams (the team with the best record among non-division winners).
In the first round of the playoffs, termed the wild-card playoffs or wild-card weekend, the third-seeded division winner hosts the sixth seed wild-card, and the fourth seed hosts the fifth. The 1 and 2 seeds from each conference then receive a bye to the next round. In those games, if a team scores more points than its opponent, it can choose to attempt a one-point conversion instead of kicking an extra point. If it succeeds, it becomes only the second team in NFL history to win a playoff game by one point.

Game Highlights
The Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco ers in Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, December 1 at 1:00 PM CST. The Chiefs are currently on a 6-game winning streak and are looking to continue that against the ers. The ers, on the other hand, are coming off a tough loss against the Seattle Seahawks.
Regular Season
The regular season is the portion of the year when the games actually count towards a team’s record. For the Kansas City Chiefs, the regular season runs from September through December.
During the regular season, each team plays 16 games. Eight of those games are within their own division, while the other half are against teams in other divisions within their conference. For example, in 2019 the Chiefs will play all four teams in the AFC West division (Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Denver Broncos) twice each. Then they will play one game each against all four teams in two other AFC divisions (AFC East and AFC South). The Chiefs will also play two games against teams from the NFC West division, since that is the division that lines up with the AFC West this year for inter-conference play.
The NFL regular season typically starts the week after Labor Day and ends on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. In 2019, Kansas City’s first regular season game is on September 8th at Jacksonville, and their last regular season game is on December 29th at home against Oakland.
Playoffs
The Chiefs have clinched the AFC West and a first-round bye in the playoffs. They will host a divisional game on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2:35 p.m. CT on NBC.
