The Loser
As the seconds ticked off the clock, the North Carolina Tar Heels’ hopes of winning the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship were dashed by the Kansas Jayhawks. For UNC, it was a disappointing end to what had been a promising season. For Kansas, it was a moment of triumph.
But what happens after the final buzzer sounds and one team is declared the winner and the other the loser? What is the aftermath of such a contest?
For the players, it is often a time of mixed emotions. There is relief that the game is over and they can finally relax. But there is also disappointment and even sadness that their season has come to an end, especially if they had high hopes for winning it all.
For the coaches, it is a time to reflect on what went right and what went wrong. They will also start to think about next season and how they can improve their team.
And for fans, it is a time to either celebrate or commiserate. If your team won, you are likely feeling elated. If your team lost, you may be feeling disappointed or even angry. But regardless of which side you are on, one thing is for sure: The game has ended and it is time to move on to the next one.
