The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO.

The team played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium from 1972 to 2016, and on September 10, 2017, they played their first game at their new home ground of Livestrong Sporting Park, now known as Arrowhead Stadium.

The franchise has had 27 head coaches (including 4 interim head coaches) since their inception: Hank Stram (1960–1974), Paul Wiggin (1975), Marv Levy (1978–1982), John Mackovic (1983–1986), Frank Ganz Jr.

The franchise has had two perfect regular seasons: in 2004 under head coach Dick Vermeil and in 2010 under head coach Todd Haley.

Highlights

The last game of the season is finally upon us. After a long, grueling battle, the two best teams in the league have emerged. The Chiefs and the Rams will face each other in a rematch of their regular season game, which the Rams won 54-51. This time, however, the stakes are higher. The winner will take home the Lombardi Trophy and be crowned Super Bowl champions.

Both teams have been preparing hard for this matchup and it promises to be an exciting game. The Rams are led by their strong offense, which includes NFL MVP candidate Todd Gurley and one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Jared Goff. The Chiefs, on the other hand, have a high-powered offense led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is fresh off of winning the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award.

The game will be played on February 3rd at 3:00pm EST at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Recent News

The Kansas City Chiefs have not played since their Super Bowl victory on February 2nd. It has been reported that they are scheduled to play the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football on February 11th.

Trades

The Kansas City Chiefs have made some trades recently that will bolster their team for the future.
On March 14, the Chiefs traded their first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to the San Francisco
49ers in exchange for defensive end Dee Ford. The Chiefs also traded with the 49ers on March 15, sending linebacker Reuben Foster to San Francisco in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick.

Injuries

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered several key injuries during their Week 5 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes left the game early in the second quarter after taking a hit to the head, and did not return. Receiver Tyreek Hill also left the game with a hamstring injury, and offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was carted off with a reported knee injury. Defensive lineman Chris Jones played through a groin injury sustained earlier in the game, but was largely ineffective.

Backup quarterback Matt Moore stepped in and played well for the Chiefs, but their offense couldn’t keep up with the Raiders’ in the second half. The Chiefs’ defense also struggled without Jones, giving up three touchdown passes to Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr. The final score was 40-32 in favor of Las Vegas.

The Chiefs will have a bye week to recover from their injuries, but it is unclear if Mahomes or Hill will be able to play in their next game against the Buffalo Bills on October 19th. Duvernay-Tardif’s status is also uncertain, but Jones is expected to play despite his groin injury.

Fan Reactions

Kansas City fans are anxious to see their team play again. The team has not played since their win against the San Francisco 49ers on September 23. Some fans are speculating that the team may not play again this season.

Comments

The Chiefs haven’t played since their thrilling win over the 49ers in the Super Bowl on February 2nd, and fans are understandably getting antsy. Sitting through the entire offseason, free agency, and the NFL Draft without seeing a single Chiefs game has been rough, but the wait is almost over.

The Chiefs are scheduled to open the 2020 season at home against the Texans on September 10th. That’s just over seven months from now, but it feels like an eternity. In the meantime, fans have been left to wonder what this team will look like when they take the field again.

There have been some changes since we last saw the Chiefs, most notably on defense where they lost several key starters in free agency. They also used their first-round draft pick on a defender, bringing in Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons.

All in all, it should be an interesting season for the Chiefs. They’ll be looking to defend their Super Bowl title and cement themselves as one of the best teams in NFL history. And fans will be right there with them, eagerly waiting for each and every game.

Social Media

Hundreds of thousands of fans have taken to social media to express their excitement, or lack thereof, about the Kansas City Chiefs making it to the Super Bowl.

Some feel that the Chiefs haven’t played a meaningful game in years, and that their fans are some of the most fair-weather in the NFL.

Others are thrilled that the team has made it this far, and are eagerly awaiting the chance to see them play again.

Regardless of where people stand, it’s clear that the Chiefs have a dedicated and passionate fan base that will be cheering them on come February 2nd.
