After several months of anticipation, the NFL finally released the Kansas City Chiefs’ schedule for the 2020 season.

The Kansas City Royals last played on September 29, 2019. They lost to the Houston Astros 3-2 in 11 innings. The Royals are scheduled to play again on April 2, 2020, against the Chicago White Sox.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). The Kansas City Chiefs have not played since their Super Bowl victory on February 2nd. It has been reported that they are scheduled to play the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football on February 11th.
Trades
The Kansas City Chiefs have made some trades recently that will bolster their team for the future.
On March 14, the Chiefs traded their first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to the San Francisco
49ers in exchange for defensive end Dee Ford. The Chiefs also traded with the 49ers on March 15, sending linebacker Reuben Foster to San Francisco in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick.
Injuries
The Kansas City Chiefs suffered several key injuries during their Week 5 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes left the game early in the second quarter after taking a hit to the head, and did not return. Receiver Tyreek Hill also left the game with a hamstring injury, and offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was carted off with a reported knee injury. Defensive lineman Chris Jones played through a groin injury sustained earlier in the game, but was largely ineffective.
Backup quarterback Matt Moore stepped in and played well for the Chiefs, but their offense couldn’t keep up with the Raiders’ in the second half. The Chiefs’ defense also struggled without Jones, giving up three touchdown passes to Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr. The final score was 40-32 in favor of Las Vegas.
The Chiefs will have a bye week to recover from their injuries, but it is unclear if Mahomes or Hill will be able to play in their next game against the Buffalo Bills on October 19th. Duvernay-Tardif’s status is also uncertain, but Jones is expected to play despite his groin injury.
