Kauffman Stadium, often called “The K”, is a baseball park located in Kansas City, Missouri, that is home to the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). It is part of the Truman Sports Complex and has been home to the Royals since 1973. It was previously named Royals Stadium from 1973 to 1993.
The ballpark’s name pays homage to Ewing Kauffman, the founder and first owner of the Royals who died in 1993. The stadium has a capacity of 37,903 people. It features dramatic fountains beyond the outfield wall that fire off when any Kansas City player hits a home run or any Royal gets a base hit with runners in scoring position.
