NASCAR
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is an American auto racing sanctioning and operating company that is best known for stock-car racing. The privately owned company was founded by Bill France Sr. in 1948, and his son, Jim France, has been the CEO since August 6, 2018. The company is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. Each year, NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 48 US states as well as in Canada and Mexico.
Prior to the founding of NASCAR, racing events were often held on dirt ovals such as those at Charlotte Speedway and Darlington Speedway. NASCAR was established to provide a standard set of rules for all stock car races held on paved racetracks; however, it became evident that dirt tracks could not maintain a high enough level of safety and competitiveness using only basic safety measures such as wooden planks placed across mud pits to block off dangerous areas. After much negotiation with track owners around the country, NASCAR was able to get all major racetracks to convert to pavement by 1954.
Today, NASCAR races are broadcast on television in over 150 countries worldwide and attracts sponsorships from some of the biggest names in corporations such as Ford, Coca-Cola, and Toyota.

There are a variety of events that take place at Kansas Speedway throughout the year. These range from musical performances and festivals to car shows and sporting events. Notable moments
On April 28, 2001, the speedway became the site of the inaugural running of the Indy Racing Northern Light Series Kansas Lottery 300. The race was won by Scott Sharp. It was the first Indy Racing League event held in the state of Kansas. The speedway has also been the home of NASCAR races since 2001.
First NASCAR race
The first NASCAR race was held on June 19, 1949 at Daytona Beach, Florida. Bill France Sr. founded NASCAR as a way to bring racing back to the beaches after World War II. The first race was won by Red Byron in a modified Hudson.
First IndyCar race
The first IndyCar race took place at the Kansas Speedway on July 4, 2001. The race was won by Scott Sharp.
