History of McDonald
The history of McDonald, Kansas is a long and storied one. The town was founded in the late 1800s by a man named Daniel McDonald, who was an entrepreneur and cattle rancher. The town grew rapidly in the early years, thanks in part to the railroad which ran through it. It soon became a thriving spot for businesses and farmers alike.
The early years were not all easy ones, however. The town was hit hard by the Great Depression and then later by a tornado in the 1950s. But through it all, the people of McDonald persevered.

McDonald is a city in and the county seat of Cherokee County, Kansas, United States.[7] As of the 2010 census, the city population was 1,081.[8]
The first settlers in the area that would become McDonald were three brothers from Franklin County, Illinois: Isaac, Richard, and Hiram Cole. They established Cole’s Settlement on October 15, 1866.[9][10] The first post office in Cole’s Settlement was established on October 25, 1866,[11] with Hiram Cole as postmaster. The settlement soon became known as Cole’s Camp.[12][13] In year 1867 Hiram Cole sold his interest in the Cole’s Camp townsite to Isaac and Richard which they then platted and recorded on February 4, 1867 as McDonald.[14][15] The brothers then constructed a hotel at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Spruce Street.[16][17]
In year 1886 CherokeeCounty was organized out of northeastern Crawford County. The first county election selected McDonald as the county seat,[18][19] which it has remained ever since.
As of the census[4] of 2010, there were 1,081 people, 427 households, and 257 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,393.3 inhabitants per square mile (537.9/km2). There were 503 housing units at an average density of 637.4 per square mile (245.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.5% White, 0.2% African American, 0.8% Native American, 0.6% Asian Pacific Islander,, 033% other races,,and 2$% biracial., Hispanic or Latino peoples of any race were 2$$% ofthe population< ref>

Attractions in McDonald
There are a few attraction in and around the town of McDonald, KS. One such attraction is the Little House on the Prairie Museum. This museum is dedicated to the famous book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The museum is open from May 1st through October 31st.
Another attraction in McDonald is the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. This center is a hands-on museum that has a number of space-related exhibits. The Cosmosphere also has an IMAX theater where you can watch educational and entertaining films about space.
