The Legends Outlets Kansas City is an outdoor lifestyle shopping center located in the Village West area of Kansas City, Kansas, United States. The center opened on October 28, 2006, and is currently the largest outlet mall in Kansas. The mall is located just west of Interstate 435 at Interstate 70, near the Sporting Park and Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway.
The center was developed by Howard Hughes Corporation and features over 100 stores and restaurants, including Adidas, Banana Republic Factory Store, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Gap Factory Store, J.Crew | Crewcuts Factory, Nike Factory Store, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Under Armour and Vera Bradley. The outdoor mall includes a children’s play area and an amphitheater that hosts free concerts during the summer months.

In early 2007Development Management Group announced that it would add a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World as an anchor store. It opened on October 25, 2007. Shortly after opening Bass Pro Shops announced plans to build an adjacent 300-room hotel. The 16-story hotel opened on August 1st 2009 as part of the Marriott Autograph Collection. hotel features include an indoor/outdoor swimming pool and 10 acres (40,000 m2) of Native Woodland with walking trails along the Cottonwood River.

Zona Rosa is located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri. It is situated just off of I-29 and Highway 152, near the Kansas City International Airport. With over 1.5 million square feet of retail space, Zona Rosa is one of the largest shopping centers in the Kansas City metro area. The center is anchored by Dillards, JCPenney, Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, and Target, with over 150 other stores and restaurants.
History
Zona Rosa was developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s on what was then farmland northwest of Kansas City International Airport. Opening in 1986, the open-air shopping mall comboed with office and hotel space, quickly became a draw for locals and tourists alike. The name “Zona Rosa” is Spanish for “pink zone” or “red light district”.
The development of Zona Rosa coincided with a major redevelopment initiative for the nearby Kansas City International Airport. In 1977, the Fairfax Assembly Plant closed and 4,600 jobs vanished almost overnight. In an effort to revive the area’s economy, city leaders proposed an $810 million redevelopment plan for an area including KCI Airport and adjoining property to the north. The plan included a Triangle Shopping Center (now called Nordstrom Plaza), office parks, hotels, and other amenities. The centerpiece of the project was to be Zona Rosa.
