2019 Season

The 2019 season was one for the history books. The Kansas City Chiefs had a great year, but they were eventually beaten in the playoffs. Who were the team that ended up winning the championship this year?

Regular season

The 2019 Kansas City Chiefs season was the franchise’s 50th season in the National Football League, their 60th as the Kansas City Chiefs, and their first under head coach Andy Reid. The Chiefs began the season with high expectations after their 5th consecutive AFC West divisional title, 2nd consecutive AFC Championship appearance, and a loss in Super Bowl LIII. They finished 12–4, clinching the AFC West for the sixth consecutive year. In the playoffs, they defeated the Houston Texans 51–31 in the Divisional Round and advanced to their third consecutive AFC Championship game, where they lost to eventual Super Bowl LIV champions, the New England Patriots 37–31 in overtime.

Postseason

The Chiefs entered the playoffs as the AFC’s No. 1 seed. They received a bye week before facing the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round. The Texans had upset the Chiefs in Week 6, but Kansas City won the rematch by a score of 51–31. The Chiefs then defeated the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game by a score of 35–24 to reach their first Super Bowl since 1970.

2020 Season

The 2020 NFL season was the 101st season of the National Football League (NFL). Kansas City entered the season as the defending Super Bowl LIV champions. They beat the Texans, Bills, Patriots, Raiders, and Broncos.

Regular season

In the 2020 regular season, the Chiefs finished with a record of 15-1. They lost their only game to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Postseason

The 2019 season was the Kansas City Chiefs’ 50th in the National Football League, their 60th overall and their first under head coach Andy Reid. The Chiefsfinished the regular season with a 12–4 record, resulting in the team’s second consecutive AFC West division championship. They also secured a first-round bye for the playoffs. In the divisional round, they defeated the Houston Texans 51–31. In doing so, they set numerous NFL postseason records, including most points scored by a team in a postseason game (51), most yards gained by a team in a postseason game (516), and fewest rushing yards allowed in a postseason game (29). They subsequently defeated the Tennessee Titans 35–24 in the AFC Championship game to earn their first trip to the Super Bowl since 1970.

In Super Bowl LIV, played on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 to win their first Super Bowl title in 50 years.
