The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Schedule
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to play the Tennessee Titans this Sunday, January 19th at 3:05 PM EST. This will be the Chiefs’ first game of the season. The Chiefs are coming off of a bye week, while the Titans defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round last week.
The Kansas City Chiefs play their first game of the 2019 season on Thursday, Aug. 8, against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, and will be televised nationally on NBC. The Chiefs will then travel to take on the Pittsburg Steelers on Sunday, Aug. 18. The game will be played at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh and will be televised on CBS.
The NFL regular season runs from September through December, with each team playing 16 games. The Kansas City Chiefs play eight games at Arrowhead Stadium and eight away games.
During the regular season, the Chiefs play against all four teams in the AFC West division: the Los Angeles Chargers, Oakland Raiders, and Denver Broncos. The Chiefs also play against two teams from each of the AFC East and NFC East divisions. In 2019, those teams are the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins (AFC East); and the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants (NFC East).
Finally, the Chiefs play against two opponents from either the AFC North or AFC South divisions. In 2019, those opponents are the Indianapolis Colts (AFC South) and the Cleveland Browns (AFC North).

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Rivalries
The Kansas City Chiefs have a few long-standing rivalries, most notably with the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos. These two teams have been division rivals for decades, and the Chiefs-Raiders rivalry is considered one of the fiercest in the NFL. The Chiefs also have a strong rivalry with the San Diego Chargers, although it has cooled in recent years due to the Chargers’ move to Los Angeles.
