The Chiefs have won three AFL championships, in 1962, 1966, and 1969. They became the second AFL team (after the New York Jets) to defeat an NFL team in an AFL–NFL World Championship Game, when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV. The team’s victory on January 11, 1970, remains the club’s last championship game victory and appearance to date, and occurred in front of a then-Super Bowl record crowd of 82,094 people at Miami Orange Bowl Stadium (since surpassed by Super Bowl XLIII). The Chiefs were also the second team overall after the Green Bay Packers to appear in more than one Super Bowl (and first AFL team to do so), appearing a total of two times while winning none (they lost Super Bowl I to Green Bay and Super Bow IV to Minnesota). Between 1991 and 2016, the franchise won seven division championships (three AFC West Championships and four AFC Central Championships), qualifying to play in sixteen AFC playoff games (eleven Wild Card games including one Play-In Game during 1993 due their head-to-head victory over Houston during that season; four Divisional Playoff games; and one Conference Championship game). The franchise has also compiled an all-time record of 43–27 (.614 winning percentage) against teams that currently reside within the AFC West division.

The Schedule

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12 of the NFL season. The game will be played on Sunday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Who to Watch

The Kansas City Chiefs play the Houston Texans this weekend in what promises to be an exciting game. Both teams have strong offenses, so it should be a high-scoring affair. There are a few players to watch on both sides of the ball.

On the Chiefs offense, look for wide receiver Tyreek Hill to have a big game. He’s one of the fastest players in the NFL and is dangerous both as a receiver and a returner. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes will also be worth watching; he’s in his second season and is already one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

The Texans offense is led by their quarterback, Deshaun Watson. Watson is a dual-threat quarterback who can beat you with his arm or his legs. He’s very accurate and has a strong arm, so he can make all the throws. His main target is wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who is one of the best receivers in the league. He’s big and physical, and he has great hands.

On defense, the Chiefs have a player to watch in defensive end Chris Jones. He’s a big guy who can wreak havoc in the backfield. He had 15 sacks last season and will be looking to add to that total this year. For the Texans, look out for linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. He’s a physical specimen who is very quick off the edge. He’s excellent at getting to the quarterback and forcing turnovers.

The Outcome

The game against the Chargers was a close one, with the Chiefs winning by just 3 points. This means that the Chiefs are now 9-1 on the season, and they are still in first place in the AFC West. They will next be playing the Denver Broncos, who are also 9-1 on the season.
