Mahomes was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2018, he led the league in passing yards (5,097) and touchdown passes (50), becoming only the second quarterback to do so in NFL history, after Peyton Manning in 2013. That season, Mahomes was named MVP of the NFL after helping lead the Chiefs to their first AFC Championship Game appearance since 1994.
