The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The franchise began play in 1960 as the Dallas Texans created by businessman Lamar Hunt and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Hank Stram. The Texans shared the Cotton Bowl with the NFL’s expansion cousins, the Dallas Cowboys, until They advanced to playing for conference championships five times winning three of them between 1966 and 1971
