His history
Garth Brooks was born on February 7, 1962, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Brooks’ father was a drummer for Leon Russell and his mother was a country singer. Growing up, Brooks was influenced by Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Hank Williams. He began playing guitar and writing songs at a young age. In high school, he played football and ran track. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University on a track scholarship.
In 1984, Brooks released his self-titled debut album. The album peaked at number two on the Billboard Country chart and produced three hit singles: “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old),” “The Cowboy Song,” and “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.” His second album, No Fences, was released in 1990 and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and produced five number one singles: “Friends in Low Places,” “Unanswered Prayers,” “Two of a Kind (Workin’ on a Full House),” “Shameless,” and “The Thunder Rolls.”
In 1992, Brooks released his third album, The Chase. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and produced four number one singles: “We Shall Be Free,” “Night Riders Callin’,” “Somewhere Other Than the Night,” and “‘Til Summer Comes Around.” In 1993, Brooks released In Pieces, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and became his fourth consecutive album to sell over 10 million copies in the United States. The album produced five number one singles: “Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up),” “American Honky-Tonk Bar Association,” “Standing Outside the Fire,” “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” and “(She’s Every) Single Thing.”
In 1995, Brooks released Fresh Horses. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and became his fifth consecutive album to sell over 10 million copies in the United States. The album produced four top 10 singles: “‘The Beaches of Cheyenne”, “‘She’s Every Woman”, “‘It’s Midnight Cinderella”,and “‘Longneck Bottle”.
In 1997, Brooks released Sevens. The Album debuted at number one on Billboard 200 chart for selling 835 thousand copies in its first week which is Garth’s biggest first week sales since Fresh Horses in 1995 . Sevens is also noted for being Garth’s only studio album that did not have any Top 40 hit singles although three of its tracks went Top 5 on Country radio (“Longneck Bottle”,”Two Pina Coladas”,and”In Another’s Eyes”).
