They have an all-time regular season record of 610–540–42 (.530),[8] a record of 32–39 (.451) in playoff games through 2019, and had an active streak of 27 straight playoff appearances from 1990 to 2016—the longest streak by far in NFL history. The Quarterback Position

The quarterback is the most important position on the football field. They are the ones who lead the team and make all the decisions on the field. Quarterbacks need to have a strong arm, be accurate, and be able to make quick decisions. They also need to be able to read the defense and know where to throw the ball.

The importance of the quarterback

In the National Football League, the quarterback is the field general who rallies teammates and makes game-changing decisions on the field. A quarterback’s duties include calling plays in the huddle, receiving signals from coaches on the sidelines, and executing pass routes to connect with eligible receivers.

The quarterback is often considered the most important position in football, and NFL quarterbacks typically receive enormous salaries and celebrity status. Legendary quarterbacks such as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees have led their teams to multiple Super Bowl championships, while others like Dan Marino and Johnny Unitas are considered among the best to ever play the game but never won a title.

The Kansas City Chiefs have had many great quarterbacks throughout their history, including Len Dawson, Joe Montana, and currently Patrick Mahomes. The team has won several conference championships and one Super Bowl with these standout players leading the way.

The quarterback’s responsibilities

The quarterback is the leader of the offense. He is responsible for calling the plays, directing the other players on his team, and making sure that everyone is in the right place at the right time. In addition, he is responsible for making sure that the ball gets from the center to the running back or receiver who will be carrying it downfield. The quarterback also has to be able to make quick decisions under pressure and keep calm in the face of a pass rush.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Quarterbacks

The Kansas City Chiefs have had many quarterbacks throughout the years, but the current quarterback is Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Chiefs. He is the son of former MLB player Pat Mahomes.

Alex Smith

Alex Smith (born May 7, 1984) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He was the first overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, and has also played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Smith grew up in Bonner Springs, Kansas and attended nearby Waldron Mercy Academy before moving on to high school at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, a suburb of Kansas City. While at Bishop Miege, Smith earned All-State honors as a sophomore. As a junior, he led his team to a 13–0 record and a state championship, completing 133 of 206 passes for 2,687 yards and 30 touchdowns. In his senior year, Smith was again named All-State while leading his team to an 11–1 record and their second consecutive state championship. During his senior season he also threw for 3,023 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Lavon Mahomes II (born September 17, 1995), nicknamed Pat orShowtime, is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Alex Smith

Since 2013, the Chiefs have had the same starting quarterback: Alex Smith.

Alex Smith was drafted first overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He spent 8 seasons with the 49ers before being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013.

In his 4 seasons with the Chiefs, Alex Smith has led the team to 3 playoff appearances and 2 AFC west divisional titles.

Patrick Mahomes

Since being drafted 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft, Patrick Mahomes has cemented himself as one of – if not the – best quarterback in all of football.

After sitting behind veteran Alex Smith for the first part of his rookie season, Mahomes took over as the starter in Week 17 and never looked back. In 2018, his first full season as a starter, Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns en route to being named league MVP. He followed that up by leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory in 2019, becoming the youngest player ever to win both MVP and a Super Bowl.

There’s no doubt that Mahomes is one of the most talented quarterbacks we’ve ever seen, and at just 24 years old, he’s only going to get better.
