The National Football League (NFL) season is upon us, and the question on everyone’s mind is who will the Kansas City Chiefs play today? The answer, of course, is that they will play whoever their opponents are for that week. But, let’s take a look at the NFL season schedule to see who they might play.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO. While Hunt’s grandson, David, serves as president.
The Chiefs have won three AFL championships, in 1962, 1966, and 1969. They became the second AFL team (after the New York Jets) to defeat an NFL team in an AFL–NFL World Championship Game when they beat Minnesota 52–10 in Super Bowl IV. The team’s victory on January 11, 1970,[1][2] remains the club’s last championship game appearance and victory,[3] and occurred during what was arguably the most successful period in franchise history, having appeared in an AFL Championship Game six times during a nine-year span between 1961 and 1969.[4][5] The franchise has also qualified for six AFC playoffs since 1970; they defeated Houston 24–0 in January 1971 for their first AFC playoff game victory since January 17, 1966,[6] when they defeated Buffalo 31–7 en route to their second AFL championship.[7][8][9] However, since 1993 despite qualifying for the playoffs eight times—including five consecutive appearances between 2015 and 2019—they have yet to return to Super Bowl glory; their playoff record from 1993 onward is 6–13,[10][11] with five losses coming at Arrowhead Stadium—most recently against eventual Super Bowl LIV champion Brady-led Patriots.[12]
The NFL Schedule
The NFL schedule is determined by a set of rules that the league’s 32 teams must follow each year.
The league starts with a schedule release date, which is typically in mid- to late-April. The schedule is then announced on NFL.com and each team’s official website.
Once the schedule is released, teams can start making plans for training camp and the regular season. The NFL preseason typically begins in early August, with the regular season starting around Labor Day.

As the AFC’s No. 1 seed, the Kansas City Chiefs have a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. They’ll play the highest-remaining seed in the divisional round, which will take place Jan. 12 or 13 at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs could play any of the following teams in the divisional round:
– Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens clinched the AFC North with a 42-21 win over the Browns on Sunday. They’re the conference’s No. 4 seed.
– Houston Texans: The Texans clinched the AFC South with a 24-21 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. They’re the conference’s No. 3 seed and will host a wild-card game next weekend against either Buffalo or New England.
– Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers failed to clinch a playoff berth when they lost 23-9 to Denver on Sunday night. They would need to beat Oakland on Sunday and have Pittsburgh lose or tie at Cincinnati to earn a wild-card spot as the AFC’s No. 5 seed.

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the best teams in the NFL and are currently favored to win the Super Bowl. The Chiefs have a strong offense led by MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes, and a defense that has improved throughout the season. If the Chiefs win today, they will likely play in the Super Bowl.
