The Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels in the NCAA tournament on March 25, 2017. The Jayhawks won the game 80-67.
The game was played on March 26th, 2019. The final score was 73-72, in favor of North Carolina.
The Jayhawks and the Tar Heels faced off in one of the most highly anticipated games of the college basketball season. The two teams met in Chapel Hill, with North Carolina coming out on top by a final score of 74-73.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. Kansas took a narrow lead into halftime, but North Carolina rallied in the second half to take a four-point lead with just over four minutes remaining.
The Jayhawks would not go away, however, and they tied the game at 73 with just over a minute to play. North Carolina had one final chance to win it in regulation, but they were unable to convert and the game went to overtime.
In the extra period, it was Kansas who came out on top, as they hit a jumper with just seconds remaining to seal the victory. Devonte’ Graham led the Jayhawks with 21 points, while Theo Pinson led the Tar Heels with 18 points.
The outcome of the game is that North Carolina won 79 to 53.
