The biggest surprises
The Kansas City Chiefs topped the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-13 on Sunday in a game that featured several surprising performances. Here are the biggest surprises from the game:
1. The Chiefs dominated time of possession.
The Chiefs controlled the ball for over 36 minutes, while the Steelers had it for less than 24. This is unexpected given that the Steelers have one of the best offensive lines in the league, while the Chiefs have been struggling to run the ball effectively this season.
2. The Steelers couldn’t get anything going on offense.
While much of this can be attributed to Kansas City’s strong defense, Pittsburgh’s offense also looked out of sync for most of the game. The team managed just 13 points and struggled to sustain any kind of consistent attack. This is uncharacteristic for a team that has been one of the best offensive teams in the league over the past few years.
3. Kansas City’s secondary shut down Pittsburgh’s passing attack.
The Chiefs’ defensive backs did an excellent job of limiting Pittsburgh’s receivers, especially star wideout Antonio Brown. Brown was held to just four catches for 34 yards, which is well below his usual production. This was a big reason why the Steelers were unable to get much going offensively.
